Hi Everyone,
Just a short note to say we should be leaving during the afternoon for the Philippines; destination Subic Bay Yacht Club. There will be 6 of us on board. Randal, Bill Kimley, Dean Philps from North Carolina and Ben Ben from France who are also having a Diesel Ducks built, and a Philippino captain and me. Ben’s last name isn’t Ben, but everyone refers to him as Ben Ben so I don’t know his last name. I haven’t met the Philippino captain yet so don’t know his name either. Dean came back with Randal on Thursday. The others will get here today.
The passage (what a voyage is called) will take about 4 days. We should get to Subic sometime Wednesday so don’t worry if you don’t hear from me till Thursday or Friday. I don’t know what email options are at the yacht club.
Our frig is crammed with food and Diet Coke. There is more Coke and water and beer crammed in storage spaces. We have lots of meat, chicken and shrimp in the freezer and a locker filled with enough food for a 10 day passage. I think there is a jar of PB per person! But for 4 days we should do better than that. I made tuna casserole for one night and cooked some chicken for another and we got take out fried rice and broccoli for tonight and Tuesday night will be whatever. We have lots of lunch meat and tuna fish and cheese and yogurt and eggs. Maybe Tuesday will be everything and anything that’s left over. It depends on how smooth or rough the passage is. If it’s too rolling, it’s too hard to cook. I just have no clue. I will take sea sick meds because it’s better to take it and not need it than visa versa. Too bad though cause it makes you sleepy apparently.
Luckily the Sox are 12 games up and can’t fall from first place while we are gone for 4 days. I love the Sox, but after 47 years of being a fan, I have seen things go south for them too many times. I figure that the first 10 years of my life I wasn’t so aware…….One Sox note, I lost my old ratty, but much loved hat on my next to, next to last day in China. But it does mean that someone in China is finally wearing a Sox hat! I bought a new hat last April so I am not without. And my pal Ellen gave me "Into the Woods" and "Wicked" hats so I’m all set for anything. Ellen’s sister works on Broadway as a dresser so Ellen knows Broadway. I do get comments when I wear the Wicked hat!
So that’s all I can think of. Except, Here we go!
